'Make sure': Govt asks phone cos to have cyber security app pre-installed; gives 90-day ultimatum

India's government is now requiring smartphone makers to pre-install the Sanchar Saathi cyber security app, which cannot be deleted. This move aims to combat cyber threats, track lost or stolen phones, and prevent counterfeit devices. The app, already available, has seen significant downloads and success in blocking and tracing devices since its January 2025 launch.
