How discarded Christmas trees are being used to build dunes on a UK beach

Discarded Christmas trees are being used to strengthen the sand dunes at St Annes beach on England’s Fylde Coast. Since the project began in 2013, the trees have helped trap wind-blown sand and expand the dunes. The wider dunes act as a natural sea defence, helping protect nearby homes and businesses from coastal flooding while also creating habitat for specialised plants and wildlife.
